Sheena Muirhead Koops
Sheena Muirhead Koops is your NDP candidate for Souris-Moose Mountain.
She was born in Lampman, Treaty 2 territory, to two teachers, and grew up just south of Macoun, Treaty 4 territory, riding her horse, playing table tennis, and sleeping under the stars on the uncultivated prairie with sage, yarrow, and wild roses.
Sheena’s 30-year teaching career is shaped by rural values and Dene, Nakota, Dakota, Lakota, Anihšināpē, nêhiyawak, Métis Nations, and Treaty Teachings. She dedicates herself to Treaty teachings and Treaty relationships as a responsibility to her settler ancestors. She has taught in urban, rural, provincial, community, and band schools.
Since 2018, Sheena has been a Nation Builder Advocate with Treaty Education Alliance in Fort Qu’Appelle. Now, she is a sessional instructor at the University of Regina, where she is a PhD candidate.
Sheena envisions economic hope and revitalization for Saskatchewan. She is fighting for her rural community to reclaim and reimagine universal healthcare. She is getting things done for Souris-Moose Mountain by showing love, kindness, and joy.
